Battery Draining Fast? Here's When Replacement Actually Helps
"My battery drains fast" is one of the most common reasons people book a repair — but it isn't always a battery problem. Here's how to figure out what you're actually dealing with.
Check battery health first
Most phones let you check maximum battery capacity in settings. Above roughly 85%, the battery is usually still healthy and drain is more likely a software or usage issue. Below 80%, replacement will make a noticeable difference.
Signs that point to the battery
- The phone shuts down suddenly at 20–30% charge
- It's visibly swollen — stop using it and get it checked immediately, this is a safety issue
- Battery percentage jumps unpredictably (80% to 45% in one screen-on session)
- The phone is noticeably warm even when idle
Signs that point elsewhere
If drain started right after a software update or installing a new app, that's usually the culprit — check battery usage by app in settings before booking a replacement. A single background app stuck in a loop can drain a perfectly healthy battery in a few hours.
Why replacement quality matters
A low-quality replacement battery can leave you back where you started within a few months, or worse, cause the swelling issue mentioned above. Genuine-spec cells, properly calibrated after fitting, are the difference between a fix that lasts a year and one that lasts a week.
